Voices of the Victimized: Monica Monet's Story
In this harrowing episode, host Michi J of 'A Prisoner's Pardon' podcast interviews Monica Monet, who opens up about her life as a victim of trafficking and prostitution. Monica shares heart-wrenching stories of being passed around as a child, facing severe abuse, and how she ended up in the life of prostitution. The discussion covers her personal experiences, the complexities of sex trafficking, and the psychological impact of such trauma. Monica also talks about her path to healing, self-love, and her plans to write a book about her life story. This episode aims to shed light on the often overlooked perspective of victims in the context of prison reform and the need for a comprehensive approach to reducing recidivism.

traffic is, is to a whole different level
2
:I just seen the woman out there.
3
:She had a baby.
4
:And I simply seen the man.
5
:She was standing on the bridge.
6
:And I simply seen the man.
7
:He sit there and told her.
8
:He said, If you don't come home,
them other kids gonna be sold.
9
:So she had to stand out there
selling flowers and whatever else.
10
:And it's hot.
11
:I was out there when it was like
102 and the woman was standing out
12
:there with a baby on her, on her.
13
:So it just, traffic is, is
to a whole different level
14
:Hello, and welcome to a prisoner's part
in podcasts with me, your host, me TJ.
15
:Yes today, we have an awesome
episode because today we're
16
:switching gears a little bit.
17
:I'm a be out in the field.
18
:So please excuse the sound is not
as perfect as I would like it to
19
:be, but I will be improving on that.
20
:Today, we're going to be
listening to the victim side.
21
:I know all the time we usually do with
people on the other side, talking about
22
:if they've been incarcerated themselves.
23
:If they worked as though.
24
:A correctional officer, police
officer, if they read in books that
25
:help people that spend incarcerated
as well as their families.
26
:I believe victims do have a voice in
our prison reform, which we should
27
:be listening to, but I don't really
hear a lot from, so we're prisoners.
28
:Pardon?
29
:We want to hear from everyone because we
believe everyone has a voice and should.
30
:Actually participate in the process of
just strategizing ways on how to do prison
31
:reform, and how to lower recidivism.
32
:Today, I'm going to be interviewing.
33
:Monica Monet.
34
:She has been through a lot in her life.
35
:And has been a victim for most of it.
36
:So she's going to be
talking about how she was.
37
:Molested a little bit, nothing
graphics so we can have kids
38
:in, the room if you like.
39
:So it's nothing going to be
graphic, and she's going to talk
40
:about some sex trafficking and
just given us a really good insight
41
:into that world of prostitution.
42
:And how they live there and
how she actually survived.
43
:And how she feels about
people that actually.
44
:Have done this to her.
45
:So I know a lot of times people don't
look at people that's in this sort
46
:of rural as victims, but I'm here
to tell you that we should, when you
47
:hear the story, you understand why.
48
:So again, we're going to be
talking about a sensitive subject.
49
:We're going to be talking
about prostitution.
50
:And the sex trafficking world.
51
:We've been hearing so
much about that lately.
52
:And this has given us this
like a different perspective.
53
:I'm sure you're going to
appreciate hearing this.
54
:So thank you again for
listening again, please.
55
:Excuse the audio.
56
:I will be getting better at this.
57
:But thank you for taking
the time to listen.
58
:Now let's jump into that interview.
59
:Michi J: welcome Monica Monet.
60
:Hi, well, um, Let me go back.
61
:Really, I was a victim of trafficking
as coming into this world, um, being
62
:born and into this world of trafficking.
63
:Um, passed around.
64
:Um, my mom didn't raise me.
65
:My mom gave birth when I was born.
66
:I'm the oldest out of seven.
67
:Um, so I was passed around.
68
:Family, family, friend and family.
69
:Um, just growing up in life.
70
:So I really never had a stable
home as far as I can remember.
71
:For My mom was into trafficking.
72
:That's the reason why she
didn't raise, raise me.
73
:Um, my mom was a prostitute,
which is put out there.
74
:Um, And that was her life.
75
:My mom got killed when I was 11 years old.
76
:And, um, I'm, you know, I'm
the oldest out of seven.
77
:Um, I didn't know my mom like that.
78
:I seen my mom like that.
79
:Um, stuff like that.
80
:That kind of took a toll.
81
:So as we growing up, Like I said,
and I've been tared in life as Bo as
82
:told I'm not gonna be nothing amount
to nothing, but just like my mom.
83
:So it has stirred in me that
I'm gonna be like my mom,
84
:which is, I felt like nothing.
85
:So when I grew up, you know, um, I
jump off the four J 14 left home.
86
:Well, while I was saying, and because
I wasn't being treated right, I was
87
:being um, favorite, I went through
a lot of favoritism, um, judgmental.
88
:And when you raise it, and when
you, I was really, let me say, I was
89
:raised in a house of Pentecostal.
90
:So people that was raised
me was highly at the church.
91
:There was a pastor and pastor's wife.
92
:So it was like a lot of things,
you know, I couldn't do, couldn't
93
:do this, couldn't do that.
94
:And this is what I was taught
that I couldn't do in life,
95
:you know what I'm saying?
96
:And it was like, for me,
judgmental, you know, so that's
97
:all that in life took toll.
98
:And then I went, I was passed around.
99
:I just didn't want to raise with them.
100
:I was passed around the
family, family in life.
101
:You know what I'm saying?
102
:Um, living.
103
:So, me getting older, it's like, I
left home, I started running away,
104
:I started getting what older means.
105
:You know, I didn't, wasn't
told I was loved, so I thought
106
:that was love, of coming.
107
:Cause I never got shown love.
108
:I thought that was love.
109
:From mens 'cause I never
knew what love was.
110
:Lemme um, um, interject here.
111
:Mm-Hmm.
112
:. So did you know your father?
113
:No.
114
:Okay.
115
:So you, you dunno your father now?
116
:No, I had a man that, um,
117
:was, did things for me.
118
:Because he said he was messing
with my mom and she told him she,
119
:he said he knew he wasn't my dad.
120
:You know, um, so that took a lot
of me because I never had a father
121
:figure, well I had a father figure,
figure somewhat in my life, have
122
:past times, but it wasn't like that.
123
:So this made me you know, um, so when
it's this man, um, so let me ask you,
124
:so when you were saying You came in
when you were, you were growing up.
125
:Mm-Hmm.
126
:. You really was like, passed around.
127
:Yeah.
128
:So you almost were saying you
were traffick, like you said.
129
:Yeah.
130
:From the beginning.
131
:Mm-Hmm.
132
:. And even before you actually
got physically, um, trafficked.
133
:Well, I could say my own
auntie kind of sold me.
134
:Yeah.
135
:So I ain't trying to be funny.
136
:I, I, my auntie, you
know, I was little girl.
137
:I, I.
138
:So to this day, I got
someone on my Facebook.
139
:My cousin baby daddy sit
there and said, he apologized.
140
:I don't hold grudges.
141
:I don't care if you have any lows.
142
:He still my Facebook friend,
you know, I, I iga, but I didn't
143
:forget, you know what I'm saying?
144
:It's still there, you know,
'cause it's fair for me to tell
145
:my story, for me to be there to.
146
:To help others.
147
:You know what I'm saying?
148
:Because it's like, I, when I, my auntie
is, I basically told her I was raped.
149
:Her friend's father raped me.
150
:She knew about it.
151
:Basically, she's like passed
me on and basically was told
152
:that I was lying about stuff.
153
:I got broke up at eight years old by
my cousin, five, I mean, six, eight,
154
:okay.
155
:We got to keep it kind of tame.
156
:You know, cause it's
making me kids listening.
157
:So that's what you let me finish.
158
:So I'm getting to a point here.
159
:You, before you was physically
trapped, you was first.
160
:In the mind, because they were
calling you names and they were
161
:saying you just like my mom.
162
:Okay.
163
:It was just like her.
164
:Don't be like her.
165
:Was it negative?
166
:Negative.
167
:Okay.
168
:And then that led to actually
the physical being trapped in
169
:self esteem and just going around
with different family members.
170
:And then these instances started
happening in the family where you had
171
:experienced a lot of mental abuse,
I would say, and um, emotional.
172
:Misty kids going to all three.
173
:So I just need to say I'm so sorry.
174
:So and now After leaving home,
because of what was going on,
175
:it seemed like you were trapped.
176
:It felt like I didn't have a home.
177
:It felt like I didn't have, I
didn't have a home, I didn't have
178
:love, I didn't have no family.
179
:Because family, didn't nobody hurt me.
180
:Family showed me dishonor.
181
:No loyalty, no love, before I even got out
there in the streets and to have friends.
182
:So I always had a trust issue.
183
:People hate, you know, um, and trust
within myself because it took me a minute
184
:to kind of love myself or I'm pretty.
185
:It took me to be in my thirties to say
in my late thirties that I'm beautiful.
186
:I'm pretty because I was
that hot down above me.
187
:You ain't nothing.
188
:You're just like your mom.
189
:So I'm like, Was my mom pretty?
190
:Was my mom beautiful?
191
:Because that's what I
hear, you know, basically.
192
:Yeah.
193
:Yeah.
194
:That was not something that
should happen to anybody.
195
:No kids.
196
:Nobody should be doing that, so if, uh,
audience, if you hear anybody saying
197
:things like that to anybody, please,
respectfully, stop them in their
198
:tracks and tell them you, you shouldn't
be talking that way because you can
199
:lead this person down the wrong path.
200
:It happens all the time.
201
:Monica, so tell us about You
actually getting traffic?
202
:How did you get into that?
203
:What happened that you got?
204
:I started dancing, um, and the money,
and most females, y'all can sit there
205
:and say, y'all make doing all that.
206
:You prostitute yourself in the clubs too.
207
:Let's be real.
208
:Starts off in the club sometimes because
God's going to give you extra money
209
:to go in the back, do extra things.
210
:You know what I'm saying?
211
:For me, I left, when I don't leave
the club, I started going, started
212
:having to come to my hotel room,
or you know, wherever I'm staying
213
:or whatever, or meeting up with me,
or I leave it there from the club.
214
:So that's when it started, you
know, then it started with Backpage.
215
:Um, this and this and this, I started
with that, doing that, you know.
216
:Back pages?
217
:Back pages, online, where you're getting,
you're, tricks, you know what I'm saying?
218
:Men's, you know.
219
:It's an app or something?
220
:Yeah, it's an app.
221
:Where, you know, you should go online on
the website, put your, put your little
222
:pictures, and um, post up little ads,
and you know, like, post little ads
223
:like, you know, your prize or whatever.
224
:It's legal?
225
:Stuff like that.
226
:That's why they shut down Craigslist.
227
:But they was doing it up on there too.
228
:There's a lot of apps out
here that people don't know.
229
:You know what I'm saying?
230
:As far as the trafficking, you know.
231
:Trafficking apps?
232
:Trafficking been going on for years.
233
:Trafficking apps?
234
:No, you say prostitution apps.
235
:Okay.
236
:But they like back page apps.
237
:Okay.
238
:Where they set up these different apps.
239
:Different apps that they set up,
you know what I'm saying, for
240
:like friend This is one of them.
241
:A lot of people, they had the person and
then you go up on there and then you say
242
:you wanna, you know, I'ma touch the stuff.
243
:Yeah, because a lot of females
get killed up off there, remember?
244
:Oh, yeah, that's right.
245
:That's it.
246
:And um, so it's like me, it's I've been
told I was gonna be it, you know, so I was
247
:introduced to sex at a young age So I was
like, okay, whatever, you know, I didn't
248
:love myself You I didn't know my worth.
249
:I had like the money.
250
:I didn't have much of anything.
251
:Me growing up, I didn't have nothing.
252
:So I sent the money.
253
:The men sent me the money.
254
:They said they loved me.
255
:So that was basically
where my mind was at.
256
:You know what I'm saying?
257
:Cause I didn't get it back in the days.
258
:I didn't have anything.
259
:You know, so I just basically,
so I started from dancing to the
260
:strip club to going out there in
the streets, prostituting myself.
261
:Having all, from, from casinos, bars.
262
:I have been on, on, on, on, um, corners,
whatever, you know, um, to get my money.
263
:I have been, even though I didn't
work in a strip club, I would go to
264
:strip clubs and get some men's up
out of there, you know, or sit in
265
:the parking lot and get some men's.
266
:Um, casinos, like I said,
whatever, that, you know, I know
267
:I can get some money to get.
268
:Um.
269
:So I'm going to interrupt you right quick.
270
:So just in case anybody in
the audience is going to be
271
:saying, um, she's not a victim.
272
:You know, she's doing this on her own.
273
:But, you have to look at the big picture.
274
:It started young, where
she was victimized.
275
:Then, And so she
continued this victimhood.
276
:So whether she was actually participating,
yeah, you can look at it like that.
277
:But you got to look at the big picture.
278
:Because this started young, and we
must take responsibility for that.
279
:So again, if you're thinking that she's
not a victim, I do not agree with you.
280
:She isn't.
281
:Okay, so, continue.
282
:Well, um, Basically, I just looked
at it like I'm getting money.
283
:I'm getting something.
284
:I'm having things that I didn't have
when I was growing up, um, in life.
285
:Um, I'm getting show love in life and it
wasn't love because I didn't have that
286
:motherly love or that fatherly love.
287
:I got it from out there
from other people or means.
288
:So when I started having kids,
that's what taught me love.
289
:You know what I'm saying?
290
:Four A's.
291
:My keys.
292
:Um, so I had an incident here.
293
:What made me stop what I'm doing as
far as what I was doing in my life.
294
:I had an incident, um, the way I was out
there and, um, I didn't pray that day.
295
:I normally pray, you know, as God
would cover me while I'm out there.
296
:You know what I was doing.
297
:You know I was going to do it anyway.
298
:So you knew that.
299
:You know, I've been going down.
300
:You were stopping.
301
:Yeah.
302
:Okay.
303
:Um, So I'm sitting there, you know,
I'm out there and, um, half his
304
:men picked me up, you know what I'm
saying, and got in a car with him.
305
:Um, some told me not to.
306
:Men took me.
307
:Um, basically he had me
for a couple of hours.
308
:Raped me, beat me.
309
:First he asked me, um,
310
:you know what I'm saying?
311
:Um, basically, why I'm doing this?
312
:What's my purpose?
313
:And all I could see was my mom.
314
:All I could see was my mom,
my grandkids, and my kids.
315
:So I asked them, I said,
I'm doing this on my own.
316
:It's all I know.
317
:I've had jobs, I done had good jobs.
318
:Got an apprenticeship before.
319
:Been to college, got a PhD degree.
320
:But when your mind don't know
right, it ain't gonna do right.
321
:You ain't got nobody leading you right,
or showing you, showing you the way.
322
:It ain't gonna be right.
323
:I had negatives in my life.
324
:You wanted to be loved.
325
:You wanted to be loved, so
I went out there for love.
326
:They wasn't loving me.
327
:They wasn't gonna be using me
just to say anybody like that.
328
:My, my, I thought, And they was,
you know, so basically the man
329
:had me for a couple of hours.
330
:He was telling me something wrong
with the man, cause he was like,
331
:um, Can I be your, be your man?
332
:I'll get you a job, you
know, and everything.
333
:I done had stuff like that
done to me, but not like that.
334
:Not like that.
335
:All through my head, all I could say
was, Jesus help me, Lord help me.
336
:Help me Lord, help me.
337
:That's all I did was pray.
338
:I cried out for hours and hours as he's
beating me, raping me over and over again.
339
:Dear Lord.
340
:That man dropped me off.
341
:All I can do is say thank you, Jesus.
342
:I went to the hospital.
343
:They gave me all type of pills.
344
:I had tetanus on that.
345
:So I wouldn't have nothing.
346
:I had a rape kid done and everything.
347
:By the grace of God, they called him.
348
:Cause they found his
body fluid hits up on me.
349
:I don't know if he's still in
jail cause I couldn't go to court.
350
:It was, we had to go on, I had to go
on the phones, like now it still hurts.
351
:So it was kind of, um,
Oh, it was kind of fresh.
352
:When they had me going through court,
I wasn't able to do it, you know.
353
:So he was, who was this guy?
354
:I didn't know him.
355
:I'm a prostitute.
356
:I didn't know him, but he didn't know me.
357
:So he was indeed someone
that they were looking for?
358
:He killed four females.
359
:When I found out who he was, and when
the people from the place came and told
360
:me to identify him, we were lined up.
361
:It was told, I'm not the only one.
362
:I'm not the only victim.
363
:By the grace of God,
he killed four of them.
364
:Yes, that's the grace of God.
365
:So God got arrested for a reason.
366
:Yes.
367
:I've been asking what
is my purpose with God?
368
:I know a lot of guys, but I
gave up on God a long time ago.
369
:I really did.
370
:I really did, because I had to
ask Him so many times, Why do you
371
:keep letting me go through this?
372
:Can't leave this world messed up.
373
:Going up messed up.
374
:He put me through a test,
you know what I'm saying?
375
:But I know He put me here.
376
:So I can have a testimony
because I'm not the only one.
377
:I can save lives.
378
:Tell us about some of the women you
were with and I know you explained
379
:something that they were like family
and tried to make a, you know, I had,
380
:I, I had more females being my family
more than my own family was to me.
381
:But not for me.
382
:I lived with different, multiple,
different races of females,
383
:different cultures, you know.
384
:I think you told me something, um, you
would get together and you all would,
385
:like, have No, this, this wasn't this.
386
:That's, you call them wife in laws.
387
:What?
388
:We call them wife in laws.
389
:I have plenty of wife in laws.
390
:Wife a longs?
391
:Wife in laws.
392
:Wife in laws?
393
:Yeah.
394
:Oh, what's that?
395
:Wife in long?
396
:Yeah, what is that?
397
:That's just like, the E, hermits.
398
:What is that?
399
:That's just like, the E, hermits.
400
:You in a relationship with this man,
she in a relationship with this man.
401
:These people are all young.
402
:You married to him, she married to him.
403
:That's the minimum.
404
:In this country?
405
:Yeah, you got, you cannot
say something social wise.
406
:Remember that?
407
:Just like pimpin and whorin Yeah.
408
:Pimpin and prostitution.
409
:Tell you that.
410
:Some females, can I say this,
some females, PIMS got females
411
:that work the job, good job.
412
:Really?
413
:And, and they taking money from them.
414
:And the women going?
415
:You got some married, yeah.
416
:You got some married, you got
some PIMS married, and they
417
:got females that's out there.
418
:So when, so they're basically
Some females don't care.
419
:They looking at it like
they getting their money.
420
:You gotta look at it.
421
:Some females looking like
I'm getting my money.
422
:I don't care if I'm gonna get my money.
423
:I got a house.
424
:I got a car.
425
:Some females in headache.
426
:I know some females that used to I know
some females that used to work in a bank.
427
:Lawyers.
428
:Doctors.
429
:CNAs.
430
:And not get prostituted, okay?
431
:Ain't nothing effective on prostitutes.
432
:Just being real.
433
:Yes, ma'am.
434
:Yes, ma'am.
435
:My money.
436
:You, the money that they give every
two weeks, you get one day or more.
437
:I was getting like that.
438
:I'm getting a couple stacks of
better dancing off the pole.
439
:Depends on where you go.
440
:If you out there, you take this
and you go to Vegas or anything.
441
:You, you know, you finna come
up with 20, 000 or better.
442
:Something for owning a home or whatever.
443
:Cause they coming, they getting it.
444
:So how much money?
445
:They got their money.
446
:How much money have you, you
know, just estimate how much
447
:money you made in a month.
448
:Just some small.
449
:If 000 a day or better.
450
:I have seen 20, 000 in my
hand coming from one man.
451
:I have took road taxes from men.
452
:I have took foreign monies
from them and didn't know it.
453
:And you take it to, uh, a place
and they'll give you more for
454
:that, the more it said on that,
the currency of the money.
455
:You know, um, This is
a big enterprise thing.
456
:Yeah.
457
:Okay.
458
:But this been going on for a while, why
do you think they can't shut it down?
459
:The government is in that.
460
:All of them is in there.
461
:All of them is up in there.
462
:You know, I'm, I'm gonna
tell you like this.
463
:I done dated some celebrities.
464
:I done dated some, some,
some in the office.
465
:A lot of them know that.
466
:Come on.
467
:Same as you see.
468
:You know, what, what's the name of that?
469
:The Oprah, not the Oprah, but um,
470
:President might be seeing somebody too.
471
:Y'all forgot, uh, what's her name?
472
:Melody Monroe had keys to the White House.
473
:Come on now.
474
:Should've told y'all something about that.
475
:Okay.
476
:Alright.
477
:You know, I mean, it's
been going on for years.
478
:Yeah.
479
:Can't stop that.
480
:It's been going on since the 70s, the 60s.
481
:Okay, back in B.
482
:C., Jesus time.
483
:Yeah.
484
:You know, so it's been out there.
485
:Okay.
486
:You know, um, You And, some
females, y'all gotta understand,
487
:Some females, they just, they does
it because they never had a life.
488
:Some females see that money, they
like, Man, I want that money.
489
:You know what I'm saying?
490
:It's not the life.
491
:It's not the life.
492
:It's not the life.
493
:About trafficking too though,
do, is it, I don't know, I should
494
:have looked this up, and I can
look it up later about the stats.
495
:Um, of course being trafficking, is it a
lot of prostitutes being done that way?
496
:Just more of them, because I know they
take, Kids off the street and go do this.
497
:Some kids don't be tucking a
lot of these little girls hot.
498
:They just go out there, they see
a man and they and, and, and, and,
499
:and they ain't got no male figure.
500
:So they look like this is a male figure.
501
:This male same I just said.
502
:So they look like this is love.
503
:They look like it's a father figure.
504
:This man show me some attention
and, you know, Yeah, he, he, he
505
:supposed to be finessing your mind.
506
:I tell you what you gonna get, he
gonna buy you the finest things.
507
:Cause you getting the finest,
you getting the finest money too.
508
:You buying the finest things.
509
:So yes, he gonna dress you to impress.
510
:To go out there and get that money.
511
:And that club go out
there in them streets.
512
:But you got some that had a
good home, mom and father.
513
:That's just the life they wanted to live.
514
:Cause I done seen some
that had a good life.
515
:They didn't want for
nothing, but they out there.
516
:I don't, you know what?
517
:That's, you're absolutely right.
518
:I was not thinking about, I was at first
thinking like they were just snatched
519
:and then it was against their will.
520
:You got something, don't get it twisted.
521
:You got something that does.
522
:You got parents that sell their kids.
523
:Same way, like I feel as though our kids,
them mommas should be locked up too.
524
:You know, just be real.
525
:Yeah, I feel like y'all pushed them kids.
526
:Y'all knew this man, y'all knew
this man sat here and there,
527
:that good young girl, Aaliyah.
528
:I love y'all.
529
:So come on, y'all should've knew
not to sit there and introduce
530
:y'all daughter to this man.
531
:Same way, you know, like, come on.
532
:Y'all, y'all, y'all know it's out
here so why push your daughters?
533
:Why have your daughters
around these grown leads?
534
:Some of these men profit and deal with
these women just to get what they want.
535
:Facts.
536
:Those are facts.
537
:When they say, oh, this is, this is my
male friend, or they, you know, They
538
:uncles, and it ain't they uncles, you know
what I'm saying, and they do it for them.
539
:I done seen that so many,
so, so, so many times.
540
:A female growing up, and
this man, I seen her grew up.
541
:So you're saying that we are overlooking
Parents that are trying to do kids.
542
:You got parents, you got some parents
that push their kids to do it.
543
:You got, um, kids that
just do, do, do, do, do.
544
:You got some that just say they want
to do it they self, they see the money.
545
:Got some, I'ma put it like this,
when you don't love yourself,
546
:you don't have self love.
547
:When the devil break your mind
and you let him rape it, you'll
548
:be out there in the streets.
549
:Either mentally messed up or messed up
out there on the streets really messed up.
550
:Cause I done seen prostitutes out
there really messed up on drugs.
551
:Some of them dope dating just
to get a little hit every now
552
:and then and, and whatever.
553
:And some of them getting their money.
554
:So we got all type of women.
555
:Would you think, this is a question
for you, if young people, young kids
556
:especially, are looking at, um, some stuff
they shouldn't be watching, you know,
557
:like pornography and things like that,
it can lead to trafficking, do you think?
558
:No.
559
:No?
560
:Okay, why not?
561
:It's out here.
562
:How can you hide things from them?
563
:I'm not saying they're hiding them.
564
:I said that they could lead to that.
565
:So it's them seeing No.
566
:You don't think so?
567
:No.
568
:Okay.
569
:Either way, it's there's something in
their mind, or they just crunk to it.
570
:But, yeah, it's something in their minds,
so I mean, they had to see it first.
571
:They didn't get to see it in their mind.
572
:And now, they're sexualized.
573
:Yeah.
574
:It depends on, I'm gonna say it like this.
575
:I talk to a lot of females as far
as when their situation will matter.
576
:And my female said, why would I sit
here and stay in the house with my
577
:mama when my uncle sleeping with me?
578
:So I come out here and get some money.
579
:I'm not getting no money from him.
580
:You don't know what went on in that home.
581
:See, back in the days, and it's
still going on, um, what goes on
582
:in my house stays in my house.
583
:So a lot of kids couldn't say, oh,
I'm being touched by such and such.
584
:Oh, you're not.
585
:So you had a lot of kids that was break
and molested so they feel as though why
586
:should I I'm gonna get money I'm already
like this, but that's no self esteem
587
:That's the devil working in your mind
and say going out there whatever whatever
588
:instead of saying well get you some help
mentally let go of that God if you deal
589
:with you got their religion and take your
meds cuz God said don't be a student you
590
:need to take your meds cuz you don't need
them and and and and work with yourself
591
:get some help some counseling Like I
did, I have a psychiatrist, I have a
592
:counselor, I have medicine that I take.
593
:I know how to take it, because
I know that's what's going to
594
:make me grow up, you know what
I'm saying, a little more better.
595
:I used to say, oh, I don't, I
used to judge myself and say,
596
:I'm not, I'm, I'm, I'm not human.
597
:Because I had to take meds
because I had a problem.
598
:I was bringing this up because I've
talked to a lot of people and I've seen
599
:it where, and I can, I honestly, I can
see the connection, because if a person's
600
:too young to be watching something and
they start being sexualized, and they're
601
:thinking that it's okay, and then if
it's, They're being rewarded for it and
602
:then they're, it gets twisted and then in
that case, they can easily be trafficked.
603
:But I keep agreeing with you,
so this is where I'm getting at.
604
:So, um, just be very careful about
what your kids are looking at.
605
:Um, especially, I won't even go
there, about some of these, I
606
:would say parades that we see
these kids at, shouldn't be there.
607
:I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I know you
ain't finna just put it out there.
608
:Y'all got these kids confused.
609
:You know what I'm saying?
610
:You get confused, whatever.
611
:I understand, cause when they had
that hair, it kind of bothered me when
612
:I seen y'all having kids out there.
613
:And people, two bad kids and two women.
614
:I ain't trying to be funny.
615
:That should be in y'all
house for childhood.
616
:Your kids shouldn't be seeing
other people doing that.
617
:End of the day.
618
:Yes.
619
:Oh, there's, um.
620
:That, the odds of him being
trafficked is higher now.
621
:So, um, anyway.
622
:Oh, it's, it's, it wasn't
high, it's been high.
623
:The trafficking level's been high.
624
:It's been high, I'm just saying.
625
:The only thing that's really
put it out was social media.
626
:Right.
627
:Social media really put a lot of, social
media really put a lot of things out.
628
:When Facebook came out and this media
thing, it really put a lot of things out,
629
:opened up a lot of eyes that a lot of
people did not know was really going on.
630
:Right.
631
:Because a lot of people get to tell
their story, like I'm sitting here.
632
:No, right, but also you're right.
633
:But I'm saying from the point of view
that now the individual person is more
634
:at higher risk to be able to be trapped.
635
:Yeah, because they've been exposed.
636
:Yeah, but you're right.
637
:Two, we're seeing more of it
because the social media, it was
638
:hidden, now it's being exposed.
639
:And it's being, not just exposed,
it's being multiplied, because now
640
:they can get to it, whereas before,
it was harder to get to, but now
641
:it's making it even more prevalent.
642
:My friend called me a couple
months ago and said her niece, the
643
:police, came to her momma house.
644
:It said that her 13 year old niece
was online with a pregnant woman.
645
:Half these kids shouldn't have phones.
646
:Y'all paying for iPhones for what?
647
:For your child to be sitting up there with
John, Big Boop, and whatever it don't go.
648
:Who they, who on the other end of it?
649
:You shouldn't have certain printable
items of your kids, what they not
650
:supposed to do and what they, what, what.
651
:Social media more know about
y'all kids than y'all do.
652
:Put it like that.
653
:Well, you're right about that.
654
:Other people know about y'all kids as
watching y'all kids more than y'all do.
655
:These kids, they activate their
pages, cause I had one at the time.
656
:My kids are grown.
657
:At the time, I went through that.
658
:I went through something like that.
659
:If my grown, my friend and I call
me and say, your daughter's never
660
:sitting up there on Facebook.
661
:Lil daughter, not . They up there
with the little hair brown, with the
662
:little booty shorts on sitting there.
663
:If you wouldn't have call me and
told me your daughter's never on
664
:Facebook, I wouldn't even know
that they had a Facebook page.
665
:My daughter's 14 years old the
time my dad sent to her phone
666
:and I, I want her to have now.
667
:And that's how I found out.
668
:My daughter's on Facebook half
naked and all the people that
669
:was her friends was grown men.
670
:It's a way you can monitor.
671
:It's something you can put on the
phone where parents can monitor it.
672
:And they should be monitoring their kids.
673
:At a certain age, I wouldn't let a
certain kid have a certain phone.
674
:There's phones out here where
you can dial certain numbers.
675
:, There's phones out here where you can put
certain numbers up on there, a certain
676
:phone that you call for emergency, if
you want to try that phone, you know,
677
:but Other than that, poor ass, these kids
shouldn't be walking around with no phone.
678
:Half of them can't read a spell.
679
:There's too much pedophiles out here.
680
:You bad enough you can walk out
here and might get picked up.
681
:They picking you up out here on
the streets, that's for real.
682
:Um, so, you know, just watch your kids.
683
:Um, watch you around your kids.
684
:Sometimes the family, family, why some
of these family members, you don't
685
:even know where your family is, when
you find plenty of stuff in your kids
686
:head and touching them, relaxing them.
687
:Some of these kids ain't
going to say nothing.
688
:They not.
689
:They not.
690
:Why?
691
:I done seen kids like that,
ain't going to say nothing.
692
:Because the simple fact, they feel as
though, I had a child that told me, said,
693
:I didn't want to say nothing because that
person said it's going to kill my family.
694
:It's because my mom and
dad, it's the same thing.
695
:You don't know what's in that kid's
mind when that man tellin them that.
696
:We got some armed
shootings around here too.
697
:We got women's days around here
molesting girls, I mean boys too.
698
:So it's vice versa.
699
:Yeah.
700
:In all fairness, yeah.
701
:Vice versa.
702
:So we just can't say Cause I
done seen trainees out here.
703
:I done seen men out here
prostituting themselves too as well.
704
:And they ain't even
got dressed like a man.
705
:They pronounce themselves as a man.
706
:So you got some prostituting
males out here too as well.
707
:You know what?
708
:It's interesting because we have laws.
709
:If you saw a couple episodes away, I had
interviewed Mitch Topeka, and he has a
710
:sex case, uh, where he, he was, uh, 18
15, and he's on, um, the registry now.
711
:But, Don't you think being trafficked, a
trafficker should have something similar?
712
:I mean, this is a
question for the audience.
713
:We'll get back to that later,
but it's making me think.
714
:You know, it's a sex case,
so why are they registered?
715
:I hope we need to look at that
and maybe look at some laws maybe.
716
:To probably have that on the books because
this is so prevalent, but I don't know.
717
:Trafficking is on me.
718
:My trafficking is, when you
got to a certain age and you
719
:grown, you did that on your own.
720
:Now, my thing is, when you a
child and you a minor, now that's
721
:too, that's way too prominent.
722
:That's trafficking.
723
:When you at a certain
age, you're not grown.
724
:That ain't grown for me.
725
:Put herself out there.
726
:She knew what was finna go.
727
:I'm just going to be real with you.
728
:And grandma put herself out there
like I did when I got grown.
729
:Now, but what happened to me as a
kid, that's what was on them adults.
730
:When you get a certain age and you become
a grown woman or a grown man, that's when
731
:you take accountability of your life.
732
:You know that ain't right, but
you still go out there and do it.
733
:So, when I got a certain age,
yeah, I did it on my own.
734
:And a lot of people, they sit
there and say, oh, she, you know,
735
:well, he trafficked me, baby.
736
:He didn't traffic you
if you're a grown adult.
737
:Now, these kids, they cannot sit
here and say, I'm trafficking
738
:not just only in prostitution.
739
:It's trafficking as far as the
people, trafficking people, period.
740
:Right.
741
:They, they, they selling kids and
they selling adults around here.
742
:That's interesting.
743
:You know what I'm saying?
744
:When I was in Houston,
I seen Theta Houston.
745
:It's a lot of that going on.
746
:For real.
747
:With families,
748
:I just seen the woman out there.
749
:She had a baby.
750
:And I simply seen the man.
751
:She was standing on the bridge.
752
:And I simply seen the man.
753
:He sit there and told her.
754
:He said, If you don't come home,
them other kids gonna be sold.
755
:So she had to stand out there
selling flowers and whatever else.
756
:And it's hot.
757
:I was out there when it was like
102 and the woman was standing out
758
:there with a baby on her, on her.
759
:So it just, traffic is, is
to a whole different level.
760
:Michi J: When people said traffic.
761
:Cause people traffic with
kids, adults, all of that.
762
:You know what I'm saying?
763
:From across the border and everything.
764
:You feel where I'm coming from?
765
:So, it's just more than that.
766
:Right.
767
:So, that's why you see a
lot of movies out here.
768
:There's traffic and in certain
places, countries, it's illegal.
769
:Yeah.
770
:So what, um, so what are you doing now?
771
:What I'm doing now?
772
:Tell us about Monica, Monet.
773
:What is Monica Monet doing now?
774
:Monet was, used to be my stripper name.
775
:Let's just break that down.
776
:Monet was my stripper name.
777
:So are you still stripping?
778
:No.
779
:Okay.
780
:I'm not doing anything at all.
781
:I'm working on myself.
782
:Finna start writing my
book, working on my book.
783
:Um, Telling that story.
784
:Basically, telling my life story.
785
:My brother passed back here on Christmas
Eve, and he said, so it's before
786
:he passed, you know, tell my story.
787
:So, it's, my story basically, it starts
off with my mom, um, and her, her, what
788
:her life was for six, it's not going to
be so much of her, but it's breaking it
789
:down to for people to understand how I
got into their life and their feelings.
790
:And how my life, You know, from
then on, it's coming to this earth
791
:as far as losing her and then
me looking at life with respect.
792
:I don't, life and how life
respect, it took me into how it
793
:respected me and how it done me.
794
:And as far as growing up.
795
:So, I'm not doing things, well
I am as far as writing my book.
796
:Um, soon be trying to
promote myself in my book.
797
:Um, basically getting Get Monica
together, get myself together.
798
:I've been through a lot.
799
:Self love.
800
:Um, doing me for as not.
801
:Controlling me, because I had so
much anger I didn't know I had.
802
:I had, I didn't love myself.
803
:So I couldn't love no one else.
804
:I have mental issues
that I'm working with.
805
:So I have to work with myself before I
can go out and work with other people.
806
:I'm glad to hear that you are
going to be doing the book.
807
:And I can't wait for it to come out.
808
:I'm pretty sure a lot of people
will be interested in it.
809
:So I think we'll see.
810
:You know, what to look for, what
you, seeing it through your eyes.
811
:So now, their, your eyes also become
their eyes, so they know what to do.
812
:So, again, This is a
Christmas card podcast.
813
:, we have never actually, , interviewed
a victim before like this.
814
:Everybody's a victim in
some way, somehow, okay?
815
:Because victims make victims.
816
:Hurt people hurt people.
817
:We want to love everybody,
but we want to be informed so
818
:that we can make a difference.
819
:Stop this.
820
:, you have a peaceful
existence as much as you can.
821
:So I brought up whether the legal
system should look at traffickers the
822
:same way they look at a pedophiles.
823
:Make some stronger laws.
824
:And first Make it known, be clear
what it is before we start, I
825
:would say start penalizing people.
826
:I'm a big fan of communication
so that they do not, people
827
:are aware of these laws.
828
:You have it broadcasted all over
schools, everywhere, if you get caught.
829
:caught trafficking young people because
they cannot give consent at a certain age.
830
:But you're right.
831
:They can, even though their mind isn't
up to part, they're still adults.
832
:So we can't just charge it that way,
the way we can do with Children.
833
:please, think about this.
834
:We're going to have some sessions
later where I can have a time when
835
:we can actually question Miss Monet,
um, to get some insight and see if
836
:your kid's doing certain things.
837
:I'm sure she'll be able to answer like,
Hey, this is, I've seen this before.
838
:Maybe you should look at this or that.
839
:So I'll let you know when that session is.
840
:That's going to be a live session.
841
:, I will put an announcement out about
that later, but, um, I just want to say,
842
:you know, we hear this all the time.
843
:You can't.
844
:You can't change, you can't make a,
what, they say a hoe into a housewife.
845
:You know, you can't
change a person's stripes.
846
:But I'm here to tell you Jesus
Christ can because guess what?
847
:Jesus mother, grandmother I should say,
was a prostitute and she was changed.
848
:So, Miss Romaine, you are
changed and you can be changed.
849
:Don't let nobody ever put labels
on you because God has broken all
850
:those chains and He died for you.
851
:He died for you just like He died for
me, just like He died for all of you.
852
:So, I just want to say that
so you can stay encouraged
853
:because this isn't the end.
854
:You got a lot of work to do
because God saved you by grace.
855
:For some reason, because like she
said, four other women are dead.
856
:And you're sitting here by the
grace of God, you're saying, yes,
857
:it is something for me to do.
858
:And we look forward to you doing it.
859
:So we're wrapping up now.
860
:But um, is there anything
else just quickly that you
861
:want to say to the audience?
862
:Um, about Monica, and right
now we're in awe of you.
863
:We really thank you for being so
transparent and having the courage
864
:to come up here and just speak about
trafficking and being a victim and what's
865
:really going on is going on all over.
866
:And that means we are gonna have
some big people go down for that.
867
:And they should.
868
:And they should.
869
:I'm going to say this because I'm glad
that you said Mayfair because I was
870
:going to say something about that.
871
:But thank you for coming to me and
to let me speak on my behalf of this.
872
:I appreciate that.
873
:You got a lot of these.
874
:Top people, like I said
earlier, best into the traffic.
875
:Um, police officer, that's why so many
females don't even want to go to them.
876
:Because I done had some, I had faith.
877
:You got some that'll sit there
and say, I won't take you to jail
878
:if you, if you do these things.
879
:For me or whatever.
880
:It got to stop.
881
:It got to stop.
882
:But that's the reason why it's
not going to stop because we got
883
:so many of them that's in it.
884
:You feel where I'm coming from?
885
:And it's coming from
the top, the head top.
886
:That is, we know what I said earlier,
it's been going on for years.
887
:And like any place, when we
want to get something done, we
888
:do have to start at the top.
889
:And not the little people, we
have to get the big people.
890
:So we're praying.
891
:Um, that guy does do that and ship things
up because, and you can be a part of it.
892
:Um, if you haven't already,
please join my subscriber list.
893
:Um, so you're aware of when
different events are happening.
894
:Yeah.
895
:That's all.
896
:Um, it's not about that.
897
:This is about what you have to say.
898
:Not how you look.
899
:So, again, thank you all for being on
the show, coming in and watching us.
900
:Um, sense of love, sense of encouragement.
901
:It's not easy, you know, trying to be out
here, trying to do the work of the Lord
902
:but, our Lord, His grace is sufficient,
. , thank you for listening, and may you
903
:have a week filled with blessings.
